Best Sloppy Joes Ever

I hope you like your Sloppy Joes good and sloppy! That's clearly what makes the classic sandwich so much fun to eat! No judging, no teasing, just lots of napkins!

Why are these Sloppy Joes the "best ever"? The balance of seasonings. I like to partner chili powder, cumin, oregano, onion, and garlic with tomato sauce, ketchup and Dijon mustard.

As the mixture simmers, the warm seasonings marry the pungent ones, balancing each other and deepening overall flavor. And all this happens in less than 20 minutes.

Want to prep ahead? Great! This is a very prep-ahead friendly dish (and the flavors evolve over time so leftovers are awesome too). You can prepare the beef mixture up to 2 days in advance and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Reheat in a saucepan over medium heat, adding a little more tomato sauce or water if necessary to thin out the mixture.

So why add corn? For sweetness and texture – each bite delivers a little surprise.

Want to substitute poultry for beef? No problem. Substitute an equal amount of lean ground turkey or ground chicken for the beef.
