8 Healthy Snacks Your Kids Will Love

Aside from breakfast, lunch, and dinner, snacks are also a big part of your kid’s diet. If you want to make sure that your kid eats healthy snacks instead of junk food, here are several ideas you could use. These treats are so easy to make and they will fuel your child with all the necessary nutrients.

1.Home-made pizza

Basically, pizza is just another form of sandwich and you can put anything you want as a topping and still convince your kids that they are eating an Italian specialty. Who says you have to put just cheese and ham on it?  Make whole-wheat pizza dough and besides cheese add sliced peppers, tomatoes, corn, olives and other vegetables, and your little one will enjoy a healthy snack they will absolutely love. 3.Healthy ice pops

If you have a popsicle mold at home, you can easily make plenty of delicious yet healthy snacks for your kids. Instead of getting store-bought ice pops that contain who knows what, this way you will control what goes in them. These snacks are so easy to make, and with just two ingredients such as nonfat Greek yogurt and orange juice you can prepare a tasty snack.

4.Cookies and milk

The best thing about cookies is that you can easily transform them into a healthy treat when you use the right ingredients. Instead of using white flower opt for whole-wheat flour, replace some of the butter with applesauce and make sure you get semi sweet mini chocolate chips, and you will be able to serve your child a nutritious snack with a tall glass of low-fat milk.

5.Peanut butter and fruit

Peanut butter can be a great snack if you manage to find the natural kind, without added sugars and fats. It is a great source of protein and healthy fats and it tastes great when paired with apples, bananas or whole-grain crackers.

6.Say cheese

Unless your kid is lactose intolerant, a slice of cheese can turn into a healthy snack. This dairy product is a great source of protein and calcium, and you can combine it with carrot sticks, celery and other vegetables your little one likes. However, make sure you don’t include cheese into every meal and snack.

7.Crispy rice treats

Most kids love marshmallows and puffed rice, so consider making a healthy snack containing these two ingredients. You just need to melt mini marshmallows, unsalted butter and agave syrup in a saucepan and add puffed-rice cereal, diced dried apricots, flaxseeds and roasted sunflower seeds to the mixture and let it cool. Afterward form the mixture into small balls and you are done. Without any muss and fuss you will have a delicious and healthy snacks your kids will surely love.

8.Apple chips

If you are looking for a tasty snack that doesn’t include spending a lot of time in the kitchen, apple chips are ideal for you. Instead of buying the expensive ones at your local store, make your own version at home. You just need to slice one apple (or more if someone besides your kid will eat the chips) very thin, about 1/16 of an inch and arrange the slices on a baking sheet so they do not overlap. Set the oven to the lowest temperature and bake them for an hour, flip them, and then bake for one more hour. Let them cool and you are done!

With a careful choice of ingredients and some imaginations, preparing snacks for your little one will be a child play.
