What You’ll Need To Increase Your Appetite

Tools make remedies
  • Knife

A knife is quite useful to Remedies 1 and 2 as suggested in this article further down below. For remedy 1, you'll use a knife in cutting the limes in halves before squeezing. You also need a knife to chop the ginger in Remedy 2. What I use is an 8-inch chef knife because it’s quite versatile to make various cuts.

  • Cutting Board

For sanitary purposes, you’ll need a cutting board, so you prevent any bacteria that can contaminate your fruits and vegetables. You can use any cutting board available in your kitchen, but I prefer to use a bamboo cutting board because of its natural antibacterial properties.

  • Water

You need water for both Remedies 1 and 2. For Remedy 1, you need about one cup of water to dilute the freshly squeezed lime. For Remedy 2, you need about two cups of water to make ginger tea. Use filtered or distilled water to prevent any water-borne diseases.

  • Spoon

You'll need a spoon to mix ingredients To stir the freshly squeezed lime and the ginger tea with the rest of ingredients, use a spoon. You can use any clean spoon available in your kitchen.

Additional Items

For Remedy 1- Fresh Lime Juice

Fresh Limes

Fresh lime

To make fresh lime juice, you need fresh whole limes. You should select limes that have glossy skin and have a deep green color with a hint of yellow. The limes should be firm when you touch it, but a bit squishy.

If you bought a lot of fresh limes, you could store the rest at room temperature away from direct sunlight for about 1-2 weeks. You can also store the fruits in the fridge for at least two weeks, although their tartness may reduce over time. When you use refrigerated lime, let it rest at room temperature for a while before juicing.

Citrus Juicer

Citrus juicer

You may use a citrus juicer to extract the juice from a lime. Although you can extract the juice with your hands, using a citrus juicer makes it more efficient as you get the last drop from the fruit. If you’re planning to buy a citrus juicer, choose one that's made of stainless steel and durable nylon for long term use. Alternatively, you can use a fork to extract the juice from the fruit.

Sugar

If you like your lime juice to taste a bit sweeter, you can add about a teaspoon of sugar. If you like something unrefined, use honey as an alternative to sugar. For those with sugar level problems, use organic Stevia.

Drinking Glass

To serve as the container for your fresh lime juice, you need a clean glass. Any glass will do as long as the size is sufficient to accommodate at least one cup. To prevent any chemical reaction, use glass instead of plastic.

For Remedy 2- Ginger Tea

Ginger

Ginger

Ginger has volatile properties that can improve your digestion. As it helps promote better digestive movement, your appetite could be greatly stimulated, too. In addition, ginger helps cleanse the system and offer vitamin C to remove the bowel that makes you feel full.

Honey

Honey

To improve the taste of your ginger tea, add some honey. You want the honey to be raw and unpasteurized so you can be sure that it’s free from chemicals and additives.

Teacup

For serving purposes, you need a teacup to sip your ginger tea. You can actually use any cup you have in your kitchen. If you constantly drink a lot of herbal teas, you may invest on a tea cup that already comes with a tea infuser, like this one.

Tea Strainer

If you have many tea cups at home, then it will be best if you just buy a tea strainer. This small strainer will separate the ginger from the liquid. If you’re planning to buy one, look for a high-grade stainless steel construction for durability and resistance from rust.

Saucepan

You’ll need a saucepan to boil water and ginger. You can use any saucepan you have at home as long as it has a lid. The right size of saucepan should be at least 2 quarts.

For Remedy 3 - Black Pepper

Black Pepper

Black pepper

Black pepper is one of the most popular spices because of its great aroma and pungency. Don’t you know that consuming it helps improve appetite as well as treat several diseases like coughs, fever, and colds? Boost your appetite by stimulating your taste buds and olfactory sense.

Jaggery Powder

The jaggery powder is needed to give some natural sweetness to the black pepper. This powder is made from sugarcane and offers several nutrients similar to honey. When considering to buy this product, choose organic, so you'll know it's free from chemicals and pesticides.

Steps to Take to Make Yourself Hungry

Remedy 1 - Fresh Lime Juice

Fresh lime juice

The acid found in the lime juice will help restore the hydrochloric acid (HCL) or stomach acid in your body. Sufficient HCL is needed to have a normal function of your digestive system. HCL helps your body absorb important nutrients by breaking down food in your stomach. It is known that low levels of HCL are often associated with a reduced appetite for protein, which is not good for bodybuilders.

  • 1. Cut The Limes

To start, use a knife to cut the limes into halves on a cutting board. For one glass serving, you may need about 2-3 limes, depending on your taste preference. If you’re using a citrus juicer, you can cut the limes in half, however, if you want to use your hands manually, cut the limes in vertical wedges.

  • 2. Squeeze The Juice

Using the citrus juicer, press each half of the lime to squeeze the juice out. For those who want to use a fork, just sink the fork into the flesh of the lime and turn clockwise to extract as much juice as you can.

  • 3. Mix And Serve

Now that your limes are all juiced into a drinking glass, add one cup of water and one teaspoon of sugar. Stir well with a spoon. You can drink the lime juice before or after your workout. Regular consumption of lime juice will let you crave for protein in no time.

Remedy 2 - Ginger Tea

The ginger tea is a great appetite stimulant, as well as a natural treatment for indigestion. By improving your digestion, your appetite gets improved at the same time. The right balance of ginger and honey produces an exciting drink.

  • 1. Chop The Ginger

To begin, get a 1-inch ginger and chop it into small pieces using a knife and cutting board. You may leave the skin unpeeled since you’ll be straining it at the end. Don’t forget to clean the ginger well, so you don’t impart any dirt into your drink.

  • 2. Boil Water

In a saucepan, place two cups of water and chopped ginger. Over high heat, bring the water mixture to a boil. Once it starts boiling, hard boil the mixture for about 5 minutes. Lower the heat to a simmer and cover the saucepan with the lid, so the liquid won’t spill over.

  • 3. Mix And Serve

After your ginger tea is done, remove all the chopped ginger and transfer the liquid into a teacup through a tea strainer. You can set aside the chopped ginger slices and reuse it two times. Now, sweeten the ginger tea with a teaspoon of raw honey. You can drink the ginger tea 30 minutes before you take a meal.
